Your local eye-care specialist

Since the beginning of Catherine Young Optometrist in 1998, our mission has been to provide the Albert Park community with quality optometric care. To do this, we maintain a high level of professional education and a warm approach to customer service. We understand the importance of a quality examination, followed by advice tailored to your needs.

Our fully-equipped consultation room allows the examination, detection, and monitoring of eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Furthermore, we prescribe, fit, and supply glasses and contact lenses, choosing the best solution for you.

The earlier eye diseases are detected, the easier they are to treat.

Catherine Young

“The long-term ocular health of my patients is my primary concern”, says Catherine. “Regular eye examinations allow early diagnosis of eye disease. We can then discuss and implement appropriate management of the condition(s)”.

Products

We enjoy finding the right frame for everyone, and with over 1,000 frames in stock, our staff will help you find your perfect fit. Frame adjustments are complimentary, and we can usually perform minor repairs and adjustments while you wait. We will send the frame to our professional repairers in case of more severe damage.

For those who prefer not to wear glasses, contact lenses are a viable alternative. Today's wide range of contact lenses provides an alternative for most people, whether it is just for sport, or more regular use. A day's trial of lenses can be organised with Catherine during your consultation. The trial itself is free.

Children's Vision Centre

Good vision is vital for a child’s educational, physical and social development. Approximately 1 in 4 Australian children suffer from an undetected vision problem. It is, therefore, essential to be aware of the possible signs of a vision problem to give every child the best chance of reaching their full learning potential.

At Albert Park Children’s Vision Centre, we understand how crucial early detection of vision problems can be. Through our children’s vision campaign, we aim to educate teachers and parents about the importance of regular eye examinations. Albert Park Children’s Vision Centre was established in 2004, and our behavioural optometrist, Daniel, is available Monday afternoons and Wednesdays for appointments.
